JNCIE-SEC preparation

I have taken the first step and scheduled my JNCIE-SEC exam for November. I think I have sufficient time to finish my studies. I will also try to share my case studies as much as I can, since case study is the best way for me to learn any topic. Recommendation for these type of difficult exams is usually over study. Considering the high failure rate of this exam, I must prepare for topics more than they are required. I don’t know if I can do it or not but wanted to write it somewhere like my blog:) My primary guide will be the list at http://www.juniper.net/us/en/training/certification/resources_jnciesec.html address. I will go through the topics one by one to see how I am confident with each. I am wishing patience to myself!

    1. from configuration point of view it wasn’t bad but keep I didn’t have time to check my work. I think I will fail:-)

      1. can you post something about your lab exam experience , even it was not successful (I hope not) , but you can get new lessons learned and help us to consider them as well in our future exam. thanks in advance.

        1. What I can say is, next time I will check almost every possible configuration option security stanza.
You may have a scenario for which you might now have used one option before and it is difficult to figure it out during the exam.

The biggest hurdle is time management. Exam isn’t so easy but not very difficult either. if you can manage your time and check your config and make sure that it really does what the task requires, you will get the point. If you postpone checking your work to the last, you may not have time to do it later.

Last but not least, if you have a topic that you think that you are weak, postpone the exam until you are good at that topic. You really have to know most of the stuff well to pass this exam.

These are not very specific advises but I will pay attention to these in my next attempt, particularly time management.

          1. thanks , and most important, don’t give up and reattempt the exam very soon to not lose your preparation.

please keep us updated 🙂 and good luck.

    1. I failed as I expected Bhar. I am giving a break for a while to be more confident. Later I will take the exam once again hopefully.
